Bolivia - The first Latin-American country to close all

McDonald’s restaurants

Bolivia became the first McDonald’s-free Latin American nation, after struggling for more than a decade to keep their numbers out of ‘the red.’ And that fact is still making news.

After 14 years in the nation and despite many campaigns and promos McDonald’s was forced to close in 2002, its 8 Bolivian restaurants in the major cities of La Paz, Cochabamba and Santa Cruz de la Sierra. McDonald’s served its last hamburgers in Bolivia, after announcing a global restructuring plan in which it would close its doors in seven other countries with poor profit margins.

The failure of McDonald’s in Bolivia had such a deep impact that a documentary titled “Por que quebro McDonald’s en Bolivia” or “Why did McDonald’s Bolivia go Bankrupt,” trying to explain why did Bolivians never crossed-over from their empanadas to Big Macs. The documentary includes interviews with cooks, sociologists, nutritionists and educators who all seem to agree, Bolivians are not against hamburgers, just against ‘fast food,’ a concept widely unaccepted in the Bolivian community. The story has also attracted world wide attention towards fast foods in Latin America. El Polvorin blog noted: “Fast-food represents the complete opposite of what Bolivians consider a meal should be. To be a good meal, food has to have be prepared with love, dedication, certain hygiene standards and proper cook time.”

Cracking your knuckles does not hurtyour bones, sound you hear is just gas bubbles bursting.

image
If you’ve ever bind your fingers together and
bent your fingers back, you know what knuckle
popping sounds like. Joint produce that CRACK
when bubbles burst in the fluid surrounding the joint.
Joints are the meeting points of two separate bones,
held together and in place by connective tissues and
ligaments. All of the joints in our bodies are
surrounded by synovial fluid, a thick, clear liquid.
When you stretch your ligaments by pulling the bones apart to
crack your knuckles a gas in the synovial fluid
escapes and turns into a bubble. This process is
called cavitation. Cavitation ends when the
bubble eventually bursts, producing that popping
sound. After that, your joints won’t be able to crack
because
It takes about 25 to 30 minutes for the gas to
redissolve into the joint fluid.
Cracking your knuckles can have therapeutic benefits.
it stimulates your tendons, relaxes
your muscles, and loosens your joints.
but scientists have discovered that it
can cause tissue damage in the joints.
Knuckle-cracking pulls your finger bones apart
which stretches your ligaments. Too much
stretching of your ligaments will cause
damage to your fingers and also result in reduced grip strength.

It's your fault" - Kalki and Juhi doing it with a smile!

"It's your fault"

There have been positive as well as negative responses from this viral video of Kalki and Juhi representing women as a whole and bringing up their voice sarcastically.

The “It’s your fault” video, by a comedy group called All India Bakchod (AIB), isn’t just a campaign they're doing for someone else. It depicts the human nature towards the brutality which women in this era have to suffer and face daily.

The video features Kalki and Juhi mocking at the statements we get to hear in our daily life, from policemen who are expected to protect us, from politicians who rule the crime world and from our parents who want us to be safe and the very heard statement "Its your fault, you should have been careful".

We have hundreds and thousands of rapes and brutal assaults across the country and hardly 10-20 % are covered by the media or listened to by the police. The fact which irritates me the most is that why does the media have to put words into the mouth of the public while broadcasting the news, why do they have to present the news with tragic background music, as if any music could possibly make us feel worse about a woman having an iron rod pushed up her vagina.

The group tried to cover the daily life of women. Actress Kalki Koechlin and VJ Juhi Pandey are smiling throughout the three and a half minute video. But, when you take a closer look to feel the pain in their eyes and listen to what they have to say, the irony will hit you and you begin to understand the foolish behavior of the society towards women , when they are asked come home early , dress up decently( the word's meaning varies from person to person) , don't take “PANGA” with the male members in your group , don't go to deserted places because it is dangerous. If you do the things mentioned and if any mishap takes place all you will hear is, "It’s your fault sweetheart, you had been warned earlier”. I wonder why do women have to listen to what society tells them to do like what to wear, how to react, how to ……

Why can't they have a life of their own?

I salute Ms Kiran Bedi to encourage women to fight for their rights but, this step would not go far if girls today don't understand their own worth. Females today need to know how to take care of themsleves instead of always relying on their male partners to fight for them. Our life would become miserable if the society kept on reminding us that "IT'S YOUR FAULT", while the convicts are enjoying themselves.

Don’t tell your Daughter, not to go out. Tell your Son to behave "properly"

Top 4 foods to avoid

You’ve probably heard it before and you’ll going to hear it again now: “Americans are overfed and undernourished.” It means that, as a nation, we are eating plenty of calories but they are doing nothing to nourish our bodies and give us what we need.

1. Sugar

Sugar, even in small amounts, is detrimental to your health. It suppresses the immune system for hours and plays significant effect on your hormones, throwing your body out of balance and into a state of biochemical chaos. If you eat sugar, morning, noon and night, your body is always in this state of chaos leading to disease.

2. White Flour

Almost all nutrients that were once contained in wheat are lost in the process of creating white flour. And just like sugar, because white-flour is no longer a ‘whole food’, it actually leaches minerals from the body in order to metabolize it.

3. Processed Oils

When oils are heated above 392 degrees F (as most supermarket oils are, which are used in junk foods like potato chips, candy, breakfast cereals, and salad dressings) the fat molecules change shape, turning them into a difference and toxic category of fats called “trans-fats.” Put healthful oils into your diet like high-quality olive oil, hemp seed oil, coconut oil, flaxseed oil, pumpkin seed oil, and organic butter or ghee.

4. Milk
Milk products have a reputation of being highly nutritious and necessary in everybody’s diet. And yet the nations with the highest milk consumption also have the highest rates of osteoporosis, breast cancer, allergies and diabetes. One of the largest problems with milk is the pasteurization process: it alters the milk proteins. It actually changes the molecular structure so that the body cannot process and receive the protein in the milk. And the calcium in milk? Forget about it. Milk robs calcium from bones. The protein in cow milk metabolizes to strong acids which can be harmful to the body. So, what does the body do? It uses calcium (from the bones) to neutralize those acids.

BEHIND THE SCENES

Unfortunately, there is always a scene behind the actuality. Things are not what they seem. Be it a workplace, college or a school, worship place or the very well known the running government.
We can never expect things to be transparent around us.

As a student I find people faking around all the time, a student in order to create a positive impression has to run after his teachers and say what they say and  go around bitching around about the same teacher. Why I mean why can't we present ourselves as a real WE ??

Politicians can be very obvious example of keeping double standards. There can be many BEHIND THE SCENES and the list goes on and on.

The recent news about self-styled GODMAN ASHARAM who was involved in a sexual assault on a minor has been a shocking revelation. The sad part is that who are these men and women and what drives their blind devotion to these self-proclaimed saints. It is no use walking anywhere to preach unless our walking is our preaching. This is the statement that should be preached to all these ‘saints’ or ‘godman’ or ‘spiritual gurus’ before they preach anything to the masses.

What is one suppposed to expect from society and the people around us?

I wonder if we have a true soul with true feelings.

I wonder if we can learn to be REAL and PURE.
